TAKE A TOUR OF THE MIGHTY KERN RIVER: In many ways, to write, illustrate and publish a series of children's books is like navigating a mighty river adventure!
Rushing rapids of creativity that excite and frighten at the same time. Calm, soothing waters as inspired ideas flow naturally from pen to paper to page - all part of a hometown effort to instill community pride in our past, present and future.
And like Indy, Oh Indy herself, our loyal Indy Pack supporters paddle alongside on each new journey. This story represents our newest independently published - we like to say, "Indy Pub" - children's book. But it is our first partnership with "Bring Back The Kern," whose mission is to promote a year-round flowing Kern River.
Our goal is to take readers on a fun tour, showing an illustrated version of the Mighty Kern River as it starts high above in the Sierra Nevada, tumbles down the rugged terrain in the Kern River Valley, then meanders through Bakersfield, California and beyond.
We encourage you to seek out these areas firsthand: Use the special fold-out map as a guide. Enjoy and appreciate the natural beauty of the river's environment and surrounding wildlife. Envision what these places could be as well.
